Volta Region NPP Grassroots Endorse Bryan Acheampong for Presidential Flagbearer
In a major endorsement within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), polling station executives, electoral area coordinators, and branch executives in the Volta Region have officially declared their support for Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Member of Parliament for Abetifi, as their preferred candidate for the party’s upcoming presidential primaries.
At a press conference held in Ho, the group pledged their unwavering commitment to rally behind Dr. Acheampong, praising his leadership qualities and dedication to party development at the grassroots level.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Thelma Adzimah, the Ho Central Women’s Organiser, described Dr. Acheampong as “a visionary, disciplined, and results-oriented leader who embodies the next generation of NPP leadership.” She added that his consistent engagement with grassroots structures sets him apart from other contenders.
“Dr. Acheampong listens, respects the base, and has remained active in strengthening party structures—even when others were absent,” she noted.
The group highlighted his track record, pointing to his contributions in community development, including borehole construction, provision of farm inputs, and educational support. They praised his commitment to enhancing access to healthcare, boosting local economies, and investing in youth empowerment.
“We, the grassroots of the NPP, declare: Hon. Dr. Bryan Acheampong is our choice, our hope, and our trusted leader,” the statement read. “Let no one ignore the grassroots again — the future of the party depends on us.”
The executives also cautioned presidential hopefuls and party leadership against sidelining grassroots members, whom they referred to as the backbone of the NPP.
“The party’s success hinges on polling station executives, foot soldiers, and coordinators who keep its engine running at the community level. National executives and former appointees must not assume their endorsements alone reflect the will of the base.”
They further called for a free, fair, and transparent internal electoral process, urging the national leadership to prioritize unity and the empowerment of party members at all levels.
