Tema Police Arrest Seven Suspects Over Robberies at Ashaiman Sakasaka Park and Dagomba Junction
The Tema Regional Police Command has arrested seven suspects in connection with a series of armed robberies that occurred at Ashaiman Sakasaka Park and Dagomba Junction in the Greater Accra Region.
According to an official police statement released on Tuesday, the suspects, described as a group of young men, allegedly carried out coordinated attacks on unsuspecting victims in the two locations. The robbers reportedly used weapons to intimidate their targets before stealing valuable personal belongings.
Items taken during the attacks include an iPhone 12 Pro Max, Samsung A03 Core, a backpack containing a Dell laptop and its charger, a power bank, an Infinix Hot 40i smartphone, and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Thanks to the quick response of the Tema Police and the assistance of eyewitnesses, two suspects — Moses Kwame Helu and Jonathan Osabutey — were initially arrested at the scene. This marked a significant breakthrough that paved the way for additional arrests.
Further intelligence-led operations conducted by the Police resulted in the apprehension of five more individuals. Robert Amekudzi and a juvenile (whose identity is being protected) were arrested in possession of the stolen backpack and Dell laptop. In a separate arrest, Bernard Dzumador and another unnamed juvenile were found with the iPhone 12 Pro Max and Samsung A03 Core, directly linking them to the robbery.
All seven suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations. Authorities have confirmed that the suspects will be charged and arraigned before court in the coming days.

The Tema Regional Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to public safety, emphasizing that it will continue to act swiftly to bring criminals to justice. They also praised the role of residents and eyewitnesses in aiding law enforcement efforts.
“We commend the cooperation from members of the public and urge all residents to remain vigilant. Timely reports of suspicious activities are crucial in enhancing community safety and aiding effective policing,” the statement read.
The Police further encouraged citizens, particularly in Ashaiman and surrounding areas, to remain cautious, especially during late hours, and to promptly report any suspicious behavior by dialing emergency lines or visiting the nearest police station.
This latest operation highlights the effectiveness of community-police collaboration and the importance of intelligence-led efforts in tackling criminal activities in urban areas. With investigations still ongoing, the Police are confident that more suspects connected to the robbery ring may be apprehended soon.
Residents of Tema and Ashaiman are being assured of heightened police patrols and surveillance to deter further criminal activity and restore public confidence in the security apparatus.
