Most NDC Appointees Ignore Calls After Appointment – Kwadwo Adu Asare [Video]

Kwadwo Adu Asare Laments Neglect of NDC Grassroots by Government Appointees

Former Member of Parliament for Adentan, Kwadwo Adu Asare, has raised concerns about what he sees as growing neglect of grassroots members within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) by some appointees in the current administration.

Speaking on Ekosii Sen on Asempa FM, Mr. Adu Asare expressed disappointment in certain individuals who, after securing positions in the new government, have become distant and unresponsive to the needs and concerns of ordinary party members.

“Those who have secured appointments are expected to help those suffering, but when you call them, they refuse to answer. They see the missed calls. They know who is calling but choose to ignore it,” he lamented.

Appointees Accused of Disconnecting from Grassroots
Mr. Adu Asare’s remarks reflect a sentiment growing among many rank-and-file NDC supporters who feel abandoned following the party’s return to power. According to him, this disconnect between appointees and the grassroots base could create deeper divisions if not urgently addressed.

He warned that the lack of communication and support is fostering discontent among party faithful, especially those who worked tirelessly to ensure victory in the 2024 general elections.

“The grassroots are struggling. These are the people who fought for the party, and now they are being ignored. It’s disheartening,” he added.

No Appointment Yet, But Still Committed
After the 2024 electoral victory of President John Dramani Mahama, many party insiders and political analysts expected Mr. Adu Asare—a former CEO of the Youth Enterprise Support (YES) Fund and a seasoned party loyalist—to be appointed to a significant government position.

However, six months into the new administration, Adu Asare has yet to receive an appointment.

Despite this, he reiterated his unwavering loyalty to the NDC, stating that he remains ready to serve both the party and the nation, with or without a formal role in government.

“Whether I’m appointed or not, I am NDC. I am always available to support the party and contribute to national development,” he affirmed.

Warning of Political Apathy if Neglect Continues
Mr. Adu Asare’s comments serve as both a plea and a caution. He warned that if the current trend continues, the party risks alienating its core supporters, many of whom feel left out of the benefits of governance after years of sacrifice and hard work.

“When the grassroots feel forgotten, it affects morale. You cannot build a strong political movement when those at the base feel invisible,” he cautioned.

His statement adds to a growing list of complaints from NDC members across various constituencies. Recently, groups like the Nkwanta South NDC have voiced similar frustrations over being sidelined in ministerial and key appointments.

Call for Greater Accountability and Inclusiveness
Mr. Adu Asare’s appeal is not just about personal disappointment but also a broader call for accountability and inclusiveness within the party’s leadership structure. He urged appointees to remain grounded, reachable, and connected to the base that supported their rise.

“You can’t forget where you came from. This is not just politics—it’s about people, relationships, and trust,” he concluded.

As the Mahama administration continues to settle into office, it remains to be seen whether these concerns will be addressed to ensure the party maintains internal cohesion and retains grassroots support moving forward.
