Kuami Eugene Opens Up About Tension with KiDi During Lynx Entertainment Days

Kuami Eugene Opens Up About Past Tension with KiDi During Lynx Entertainment Days

Ghanaian highlife sensation Kuami Eugene has opened up about his relationship with fellow musician KiDi, confirming that there were moments of tension between them during their time at Lynx Entertainment.

In an interview with Doreen Avio, Kuami Eugene acknowledged longstanding speculation about a strained dynamic with KiDi. He revealed that their differences in personality sometimes led to emotional distance.

“There’s some truth to what you just said,” Kuami admitted. “From the early days at Lynx Entertainment, everything seemed sweet—we were all rising together. But different people carry themselves in different ways. KiDi’s character is very different from mine; we were two different individuals.”

He explained that while he tries to remain calm and diplomatic, he is also conscious of maintaining his self-respect within the music industry.
“I tried to stay in the middle, but not too calm to be taken for granted. When you’re too soft, people stop respecting you and may even bully you,” he added.

Kuami Eugene shared that physical separation contributed to their emotional disconnect. “I moved out of the Lynx residence to rent a place elsewhere, and KiDi also moved later. We each had home studios, so we stopped working under the same roof. Eventually, we’d only meet during shows—sometimes abroad,” he said.

Despite these challenges, Kuami made it clear that there is no animosity between them. In fact, he spoke fondly of KiDi, calling him a “big brother” and expressing genuine support for his career.

“I actually love and respect KiDi as a big brother. I pray for him, and I want him to keep winning. When he succeeds, we all succeed, and it reflects positively on Lynx Entertainment,” he said.

Kuami Eugene and KiDi, both signed by Lynx Entertainment, have released chart-topping collaborations like Spiritual and Ohemaa, and have performed together at major concerts in Ghana and internationally. Their success as a duo has made them two of the most influential figures in Ghana’s contemporary music scene.

Despite past tensions, Kuami’s reflections show a maturity and brotherhood that continues to define their journey in Ghanaian music.
