FA Cup Boss Wilson Arthur Sets Terms for Continuing Role: Full Control Required

Wilson Arthur Open to Staying as FA Cup Committee Chair—But Only with Full Autonomy
Chairman of the FA Cup Committee and Skyy FC President, Wilson Arthur, has revealed he is open to continuing in his role—on the condition that he is given full autonomy to lead without interference.
Mr. Arthur, who has been at the helm since November 2019 after taking over from current GFA President Kurt Okraku, has overseen four FA Cup seasons. Despite the disruption of his debut season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the committee has successfully organized three uninterrupted campaigns since.
Speaking in an interview with Sporty FM, Wilson Arthur made it clear that his future as chairman depends on having the freedom to make decisions in the best interest of the competition.
“For me to continue as the Chairman of the FA Cup Committee is not only in my power,” he stated. “But I will only continue if I am given the room to have control over what we are doing.”
His comments come shortly after the conclusion of the 2024/25 FA Cup, where Asante Kotoko emerged victorious with a 2-1 win over Golden Kick FC. The win secured Kotoko a spot in the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup.
