Ashaiman NDC Chairman Shaddad Umar Jallo Passes Away at 52

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has lost a key figure in its grassroots leadership with the passing of Shaddad Umar Jallo, the Ashaiman Constituency Chairman and a dedicated member of the party’s National Zongo Caucus Coordinating Team.

Jallo reportedly died on the afternoon of Saturday, June 14, 2025, after suddenly complaining of ill health while at East Legon. Though the official cause of death has yet to be confirmed, close family sources suspect complications related to high blood pressure may have contributed to his sudden passing.

At the time of his death, Jallo was serving his second term as NDC chairman for Ashaiman, a position he held with dedication and influence. During the 2024 general elections, he played a significant role in the party’s regional strategy. Under his leadership, the NDC made remarkable inroads in Ashaiman, cutting into the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) vote share by nearly half compared to their 2020 performance.

His contributions extended far beyond Ashaiman. As part of the National Zongo Caucus team, Jallo traveled across the country, particularly engaging Zongo communities to rally support for the NDC. His commitment to grassroots mobilization was widely recognized by party members at both local and national levels.

However, it has emerged that Jallo’s final days were marked by personal disappointment. A close family member, speaking anonymously, revealed that Jallo felt let down by the party leadership. According to the source, “Shaddad Umar Jallo died an unhappy man. Despite his sacrifices to help return the NDC to power, he was deeply hurt that no one from Ashaiman received any major appointments in the Mahama-led administration, despite earlier promises.”

Jallo’s body has been moved to Akatamanso in the Kpone-Katamanso Constituency. Burial arrangements are currently underway, with the interment scheduled for 9:00 AM on Sunday, June 15, 2025, in line with Islamic funeral rites.

He leaves behind a grieving family, including his wife and eight children.

Shaddad Umar Jallo will be remembered for his passion for party organization, his tireless work within the Zongo communities, and his strong commitment to the ideals of the National Democratic Congress. His passing marks a significant loss for the NDC and the Ashaiman community.
