Gospel Star Rose Adjei Responds to Backlash Over Kofi Kinaata Collaboration

Gospel Artiste Rose Adjei Defends Plan to Collaborate with Kofi Kinaata, Slams Critics as Ignorant
Renowned gospel musician Rose Adjei has strongly defended her decision to collaborate with award-winning highlife artist Kofi Kinaata, calling out critics who argue the partnership undermines gospel values.
The backlash began after Rose publicly expressed her desire to feature Kinaata on an upcoming gospel project. Critics took to social media, insisting that blending gospel and secular music is “noise in the ears of God.” But the gospel singer dismissed these claims, describing them as rooted in ignorance and misinterpretation of scripture.
“The Bible is the foundation,” Rose explained, “but interpretation and levels of thinking differ from person to person. Gospel and highlife are music genres. What matters most is the heart and spirit behind the music.”
She emphasized that the personal relationship a musician has with God should be more important than how their music is labeled. According to her, a secular artist like Kofi Kinaata—well-known for his inspirational lyrics and positive messages—can still reflect values that align with Christianity.
“Kinaata has been praised, even by respected figures like Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for his clean and thoughtful lyrics,” she pointed out.
Rose Adjei also reminded her critics that the core mission of the gospel is outreach, not isolation.
“Jesus didn’t come for the righteous alone; He came for sinners too. Maybe this collaboration will reach those outside the church. That is what evangelism truly is—taking the message to places it hasn’t reached yet,” she said.
The singer believes the partnership is a powerful opportunity to spread messages of hope, love, and salvation to a broader audience who may not typically engage with gospel music.
She further encouraged fellow Christians to open their minds and embrace new, innovative ways to spread the gospel.
“Those who oppose this simply haven’t opened their minds yet. In today’s world, where the gospel needs to reach far and wide, we must embrace every door God opens. We can’t limit how the message is shared,” Rose concluded.
With this bold response, Rose Adjei continues to push boundaries in gospel music while staying true to her mission of reaching souls with God’s word.
